Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), today made the following statement to honor the men and women who have served in the United States military:  “Operation Iraqi Freedom, followed by Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, led to many of our nation’s sons and daughters volunteering for service in the military. All answered the call with courage and dedication but many did so without an idea of what might lie ahead. They battled on foreign shores and overcame extreme adversity in order to promote freedom for those who had none. Many have since transitioned into civilian life as veterans, and it is our nation’s duty to continue to care for their health and well-being for the great sacrifices they made for America and her interests.  “We as a nation are working to renew our promise to our nation’s veterans and to redefine what it means to honor and care for our heroes. We made a good first step when Congress passed a bipartisan bill in July to reform the Department of Veterans Affairs. We must get this right, and I will not rest until the men and women who have served have the resources they need to make a full recovery and to prosper in their personal and professional lives. Thank you for your service. God bless you, and may God bless the United States of America.”   ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
