This legislation includes long overdue reforms and puts the decisions affecting our childrens education back in the hands of those who know best parents, teachers, school boards and governors. The Every Student Succeeds Act was signed into law on December 10, 2015. This bill contains significant education reforms including: Removing Washington mandates from education; Ending federal overreliance on standardized tests; Stopping the Department of Education from imposing Common Core or any other academic standards on states; Ensuring that parents have the necessary information to make decisions on their childs education; Allowing parents the rights to opt their children out of mandated testing. America Must Show Resolve in Fight Against Terror Last Monday was the 74th anniversary of the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Today, we once again find our nation under attack. While the enemy today is different from that of World War II, the motives remain the same: to oppress free people and impose their tyranny upon the world. Like those men and women of our greatest generation who answered the call during WWII to protect freedom around the globe, I strongly urge our president to embody the same resolve and fortitude necessary to protect us against the terror that threatens our security today.
