His remarks in response to the Friday, November 13, 2015, attacks on Paris, and the United States strategy in dealing with ISIL, as well as the proposed increase of Syrian refugees brought to the United States are below: You cant negotiate with somebody that will cut your head off or burn someone in the town square. Youve got to eliminate them. Until we begin to make ISIL pay the price for what theyve done, they will run rampant. As I have said repeatedly, the United States must take the fight to ISIL. We should exercise Article 5 of the NATO accord to engage the entire free world against terror. What happened in Paris could happen anywhere and we must stop it now. President Obama and his administration continue to cling to a strategy that is viewed as weak and unclear by both our enemies and our allies. It is a strategy of containment and complacency toward the threats and horrific actions of terrorist groups. The president should change our militarys mission so that we can finally eliminate and destroy ISIL. Refugees come to this country from all over the world seeking safety, often fleeing terrible situations such as the current crisis in Syria. However, we cannot be nave and think that those who seek to destroy our liberty will not try to exploit our generosity. Our screening process should be rigorous, and we cannot allow an increase to the number of refugees coming to our country until this administration puts forth a strong strategy for ensuring that radical jihadists are kept out of the United States. Isakson has also co-sponsored a resolution in the Senate condemning the terrorist attacks in Paris, offering thoughts and prayers for the victims, condolences to their families, resolve to support the people of France, and the pledge to defend democracy and stand in solidarity with the country of France and all our allies in the face of this horrific attack on freedom and liberty.
