The City of Lewiston will address lead hazards in 225 housing units providing safer homes for low-income families with children. The City will also perform healthy homes assessments in 160 units. The City of Lewiston will collaborate with Community Concepts, the City of Lewiston Economic and Community Development Department, City of Auburn Community Development Department, Healthy Androscoggin, State of Maine Public Health, and others. “Healthy homes make for healthy families,” Senators Collins and King said in a joint statement. “This funding will make critical safety improvements to low-income housing units throughout Lewiston to protect families, children, and other vulnerable populations.” In June, Senator King wrote a letter in support of Lewiston’s grant application.
