Through this recognition, let us recommit ourselves to the ideals for which they so nobly fought and let us stand beside them and every man and woman who wears the uniform in service to our nation.” Also attending the ceremony was Jim Watson of South Portland, a Navy veteran and Pearl Harbor survivor. Watson was on USS Phoenix when Japanese planes attacked the U.S. Pacific Fleet on December 7th, 1941.
