Abram High Schools Monday, December 19, 2016 SALEM TOWNSHIP, ME – U.S. Senator Angus King (I-Maine) today visited with students and teachers at Mt. Blue High School in Farmington and Mt. Abram High School in Salem Township. At Mt. Blue, Senator King toured the school and spoke with students. At Mt. Abram, he spoke to the entire student body to describe his work in the U.S. Senate and also took questions. “I can’t step inside a Maine school without being impressed by our thoughtful and hardworking students,” Senator King said. “There were innovative projects and insightful questions at both Mt. Blue and Mt. Abram today, and Maine has a bright future with such talented kids – and that’s a testament to the dedicated work being done by our educators every day. I thank both Mt. Blue and Mt. Abram for the great visits today. These are two impressive schools with a great, infectious spirit of learning.” Mt. Blue High School is part of Regional School Unit 9, serving more than 680 students from Farmington, Wilton, Starks, Industry, Chesterville, New Sharon, Weld, Temple, Vienna and New Vineyard. As part of the tour, Senator King met with students and teachers at the Foster Career and Technical Education Center that provides hand-on learning opportunities on the Mt. Blue campus. He also spoke with a group of approximately 50 students during their lunch break. Mt. Abram High School is part of School Administrative District #58, which serves the towns of Strong, Avon, Phillips, and Kingfield – as well as the surrounding townships and plantations. The entire school body of approximately 230 students met with Senator King in the auditorium, where he discussed his work in Washington and took questions from the students.
