His visit came on Small Business Saturday, which falls on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and emphasizes the importance of supporting local small businesses, particularly during the holiday season. “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. All across Maine, there are independently-owned businesses that create jobs for local people and foster growth and innovation in our communities,” Senator King said. “The local business owners I met with in Paris and Norway today characterize Maine’s entrepreneurial spirit, and -- by working to grow the economy -- demonstrate a dedication to friends and neighbors to make their communities more resilient. During this holiday season, let us reaffirm our commitment to buying local so we can support the Main Streets of our hometowns and help keep Maine a special place to work and live.” In the morning, Senator King visited Café Nomad in Norway to meet with local people. Following this, Senator King stopped at a variety of small businesses on Main Street in Downtown Norway and had lunch at the family-owned Norway Brewing Company. He also attended the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce’s Christmas Parade, which is the state’s largest Christmas Parade.
