We separately learned that Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort was deeply connected to and profited from Russian interests in Ukraine, and he allegedly laundered millions of dollars through foreign accounts and lied about it to the U.S. government. He then went on to serve as the chairman of President Trump’s campaign, for free, where he discussed with an associate how to use that position to settle outstanding debts related to his pro-Russian work in Ukraine. “The Special Counsel’s investigation into Russian interference in our election and related matters is ongoing. Special Counsel Mueller must be permitted to follow the facts, wherever they lead. Any direct or indirect attempts to interfere with or undermine the Special Counsel’s investigation are dangerous, and could possibly constitute obstruction of justice. Our democracy was attacked.
