She made a personal appeal to Marcelle. She was 43 years old and afraid that she would never have the chance to have a child as she did not expect her husband to ever be released from prison. As parents and grandparents we both wanted to try to help her. And as a Registered Nurse, Marcelle had particular knowledge of the medical realities she was facing. It was the humane thing to do. The Cuban Government paid for everything.
