On The Introduction Of A One-Month Continuing Resolution Today, Chairwoman Lowey introduced a continuing resolution to fully fund the federal government through December 20. This is a welcome development and will allow us to continue our bipartisan and bicameral negotiations on the Fiscal Year 2020 appropriations process. Importantly, this continuing resolution provides the Commerce Department with the necessary funds to carry out the decennial census, provides funds for mobile centers to ensure the census reaches those in the hardest to reach areas, and fulfills our Constitutional obligation to make sure that every American is counted. Specifically, it allows the Commerce Department to spend at a rate of operations that assumes $7.3 billion for the Decennial Census in Fiscal Year 2020, the same amount provided for in the Senate-passed Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations bill. This is a necessary step forward. I strongly urge the Senate to take up and pass this bill as soon as possible.
