This position will assist in oversight of the Federal Aviation Administration, aviation programs within the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the National Transportation Safety Board. Responsibilities include planning and conducting congressional hearings; overseeing and working closely with Federal agencies; briefing Members of Congress; and performing extensive research, writing, and editing. Successful candidates will be detail-oriented and able to produce accurate, well-written work products in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to learn quickly and master the topics within their portfolio. They should also be able to research and understand important, high-profile aviation-related issues, and propose a course of action for the Subcommittee, often under quick timelines. Experience with Federal agencies and the subject matter under the Subcommittee's jurisdiction is a plus. This is not an entry-level position; the ideal candidate will have at least three years of relevant experience working on policy or legal issues in Congress, a relevant Federal agency, or the civil aviation industry.
