U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $451,523 for West Virginia University (WVU) through the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) Defense University Research Instrumentation Program (DURIP). Funding will support the research and development of military defense technology. West Virginians have helped shape our nation and support our military through research, manufacturing, and coal mining for over a century and we have a proud tradition of supporting our servicemembers and Veterans. These awards show that WVU is a world class research institution, and I am glad to see this investment into our state ensures that West Virginians will continue to develop technology that protects our great country and our servicemembers.
