A portion of these funds are supported through the CARES Act. Our airports are vital to West Virginia's economy, providing access for tourism and industries while spurring economic development. As a pilot myself, I understand the importance of airport and runway upkeep. This funding will help the Marshall County Airport and the Tri-State Airport improve drainage to combat erosion and increase runway safety for those flying to and from the Mountain State. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to fight for funding that helps our airports stay safe, said Senator Manchin. Making sure our airports are updated to the most recent safety standards is a vital step to growing our economy and is important for the convenience of travelers. Over the past several years, investments in our airports have helped support many improvement projects, which have been made possible from support on the federal level. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I made sure the CARES Act included sufficient funding to provide the federal match to enable these improvement projects. This will ensure that West Virginia's airports can continue to operate safely and spur economic growth, said Senator Capito.
