This funding will be used to support upgrades, improvements, and installation of water and wastewater infrastructure in Wetzel and Kanawha counties. Every West Virginian should be able to turn on their faucet and have access to clean, reliable water. But at times that's not the case, said Senator Manchin. These awards will help the Paden City and Kanawha County communities get the water and wastewater infrastructure they need to provide them with the clean water they deserve. Improving and upgrading our infrastructure is a never-ending cycle, but it's worth every penny to ensure West Virginians have the basic amenities every human should have. It is great to see continued investments from USDA coming to West Virginia. The approximately $5 million Paden City will receive builds on emergency funding I helped secure last year to address legacy PCE contamination by upgrading the water treatment facility. It will alsohelprestore water storage tanks, replace damaged pipelines, and improve the current distribution system. Additionally, this funding will support Kanawha County in the installation of a wastewater pump station near the intersection of Interstate 64 and West Virginia Route 94. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, supporting programs that improve the quality of our water and wastewater infrastructure has been a major priority of mine. All West Virginians deserve access to these basic services, and I will continue to advocate for the improvement projects the people of our state need,said Senator Capito.
