The State Side of the LWCF provides matching grants to states and local governments for the acquisition and development of public outdoor recreation areas and facilities.  “As a lifelong, avid sportsman, I’m thrilled that more than $400,000 in funding will go towards community parks throughout West Virginia,” Senator Manchin said. “In our state, hunting, fishing and outdoor activities are family traditions that help foster a deep and lasting appreciation for all the outdoors have to offer. This funding will help us protect these traditions and preserve our outdoor heritage for generations to come.” “As a strong supporter of the Land and Water Conservation Fund, I am glad more than $400,000 in funding will benefit West Virginia’s community parks. These grants will keep our outdoor spaces updated so West Virginians can get outside and enjoy the parks across our beautiful state,” said Senator Capito. Individual awards are listed below: $60,000 – Boone County Commission. Funds will be used for Waterways Park Outdoor Stage and ADA Improvements. $100,000 – Brooke County Commission. Funds will provide assistance to replace the pool and upgrade the bathhouse at Brooke Hills Park. $40,000 – City of Clarksburg. Funds will enable the construction of new restroom facilities at City Park. $33,393 – City of Clarksburg. Funds will be used to replace existing hilltop shelter at Veterans Memorial Park with an upgraded group shelter $25,000 – City of Dunbar. Funds will be used to construct a new group picnic shelter and install new playground equipment at the Dunbar City Park. $60,000 – City of Lewisburg. Funds will be used to install and/or replace baseball field lights at Dorrie Miller Park and Hollowell Park. $58,840 – City of Ripley. Funds will be used to install a splash pool, including overhead line burial and minor ADA fixture improvements at its City Park. $10,194 – City of Shinnston. Funds will be used to provide assistance for bathhouse renovations at the Ferguson Park pool. $31,046 – Jefferson County Parks and Recreation.
