The grants will help end homelessness among the veteran population in West Virginia by providing financial assistance to help homeless veterans find housing and seek additional services offered by the Department of Veterans Affairs. “West Virginia’s Veterans and their families have made unimaginable sacrifices to keep us safe, and it is simply unacceptable that so many of them are living in poverty,” Senator Manchin said. “When these men and women return home they deserve the best care, and that begins with making sure they have access to safe and adequate housing. This funding will provide our Veterans and their families with the housing assistance they need and deserve.” “Our veterans have made incredible sacrifices on our behalf,” said Senator Capito. “As the daughter of a World War II veteran and a staunch supporter of our servicemen and women, I strongly believe that these individuals deserve the very best when they return home. Programs like this can help bring us closer to ending veteran homelessness, and I am pleased this funding will benefit veterans and their families in West Virginia.” Individual awards are listed below: $301,283 - Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center, Inc. (Kanawha, Cabell, & Wayne Counties) $134,342 - The Greater Wheeling Coalition for the Homeless, Inc. (Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Marshall & Wetzel Counties) $190, 575 - Helping Heroes, Inc.
