This funding will be used to increase testing for viral Hepatitis and to connect those living with the disease to care and treatment services. “The opioid crisis plaguing communities across West Virginia has led to a rise in the number of individuals infected with Hepatitis B and C,” Senator Manchin said. “This funding is essential for helping our dedicated health professionals diagnose, treat, and ultimately prevent these diseases. This funding will help us build a stronger, healthier West Virginia.” “With Hepatitis B and C rates on the rise in West Virginia due to increased drug-use, there is a need to increase screenings for these forms of the Hepatitis virus. Diagnosis is key to getting needed medical care, and this grant funding will help increase testing and detection in West Virginia so that more people can be linked with the treatment services they need,” said Senator Capito.
