U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) today announced West Virginia will receive $25,927,056 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children and Families (ACF) to help keep West Virginia families safe and healthy by assisting with household energy costs. As West Virginians, we take care of those who cannot take care of themselves and those who are the most vulnerable, Senator Manchin said. These are challenging times for our state and many people are struggling to make ends meet. This important funding will ensure that eligible West Virginians can heat and prepare their homes for the winter weather. West Virginia is a tight knit community where friends and neighbors look out for one another. During these challenging economic times, this funding will go a long way to help West Virginians who qualify for assistance to heat their homes and stay safe during the winter months, said Senator Capito. This funding is through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), a program that aims to reduce the risk of health and safety problems that arise from unsafe heating and cooling practices. LIHEAP provides assistance in managing costs associated with home energy bills, energy crises and weatherization and energy-related minor home repairs. ### Print Email Tweet Next Article Previous Article 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
