I am happy to see the Justice Department working to ensure this issue is rectified and the proper steps are taken to guarantee this never happens again.” As part of the settlement, South Bow has agreed to pay $26.8 million in civil penalties, complete an estimated $40 million in work designed to prevent future spills, and contribute over $3 million to the state of Kansas towards natural resource restoration projects to resolve violations of Kansas state laws.
