Lt. Gen. Clapper’s career in public service began as an officer in the United States Armed Forces. He has gone on to lead the Defense Intelligence Agency, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, and serve as Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence. As Director of National Intelligence, Lt. Gen. Clapper has served in a time he described as beset by more challenges and crises around the world than any time in his career. Through all of this, Lt. Gen. Clapper has provided steady leadership for the Intelligence Community and wise counsel to the President and the Congress. I wish Lt. Gen. Clapper and his family well in his approaching retirement. And I thank him for his long and distinguished service to our nation.” ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
