Claire McCaskill’s annual “Chili, Books & Beer” get-together will be going home with a bookworm’s dream: a copy of Gone Girl personally signed by author Gillian Flynn. The Missouri Democrat’s bipartisan shindig is a yearly gathering of the members of her 2006 Senate class. The chili and beer part of the evening comes with a side of literary chitchat, as each guest arrives equipped with his or her favorite book of the year to exchange. While Gone Girl, a 2012 novel that was adapted into a thriller flick starring Ben Affleck earlier this year, takes place in a fictional town in McCaskill’s home state, ITK hears that the lawmaker wanted to provide her colleagues with some fun, non-legislative reading.
