Boeing estimates the award will generate and sustain more than 1,800 direct and indirect jobs in the St. Louis region. Boeing's successful bid for the T-X contract demonstrates the superior skill and work ethic of St. Louisans, said McCaskill, a senior member of the Armed Services Committee. I'm proud of their commitment to producing the best in cutting edge technologyensuring our Air Force is prepared and ready for every challenge that lies ahead. Last year, McCaskill joined federal and state elected officials for Boeing's announcement that it would build the T-X Advanced Pilot Training System in St. Louis if awarded the contract. The Boeing T-X is part of a complete advanced pilot training system and includes state-of-the-art ground-based training and a maintenance-friendly design for long-term supportability. The T-X jet includes a flexible and reconfigurable cockpit to allow a maximum range of training options, and a fighter-like design and performance. McCaskill has consistently supported the work of Boeing St. Louis and the quality of its workforce of more than 14,000 Missourians, including praising the F/A-18 Super Hornet and the Navy MQ-25, which are both built in St. Louis, as reliable, cost-effective apparatuses of American air power. The annual defense bill, which McCaskillhelped shapeand wassigned into law last month, includedauthorization for full fundingfor Super Hornets through Fiscal Year 2021. Earlier this year, McCaskilljoinedfederal and state elected officials for the Boeing Service Life Modification grand openinga new program that will extend the life of the Navy's Super Hornet Fleet.
