Government agencies and local organizations discussed current opportunities, best practices, application processes, as well as customer and community trends. Missouri's small businesses are essential to our economyand I'm so impressed with the talent, drive, and passion of those who joined us today. McCaskill said. Far too often, contracting with the federal government can seem impossible or too difficult for small businesses, which is why today's summit to help connect them with new opportunities with the federal government was so important. According to U.S. Small Business Administration data, small businesses in Missouri make up99.4 percentof all Missouri businesses. The state has 523,459 small businesses, employing over one million workers. Expanding small business opportunities, cutting red tape, and creating good-paying jobs for Missourians have been top priorities for McCaskill in the Senate. Last year, McCaskill backed a bill that wouldassist small businessesfacing excessive or unfair regulatory actions. She has been astrong advocatefor requiring American tax dollars used for infrastructure funding be used to buy American and hire American.
