https://www.mccaskill.senate.gov/media-center/news-releases/nearly-2-million-headed-to-wright-county-for-rural-water-systemmccaskill-announces Nearly $2 Million Headed to Wright County for Rural Water System—McCaskill Announces 2017-11-29 2017 2017-11 Democrat House MO Claire McCaskill M001170 www.mccaskill.senate.gov     legacy Nearly $2 Million Headed to Wright County for Rural Water System—McCaskill Announces Senator: ‘Every Missourian should have access to clean water and basic infrastructure, no matter where you live’ Wednesday, November 29, 2017 WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill announced $1.9 million in federal funding and loans has been awarded to the town of Mansfield, in Wright County, to improve the existing water treatment facility. “Every Missourian should have access to clean water and basic infrastructure, no matter where you live – whether it’s a community big or small,” McCaskill said. “This funding will go a long way to help folks in Mansfield shore up the infrastructure in place to ensure that basic promise to the community.” The $981,000 grant and $986,000 loan was awarded to the town of Mansfield through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Program to improve the existing water system that currently has a 60-70% water loss rate. McCaskill has been a longtime supporter of investing in Missouri’s infrastructure. She has led efforts to claw back previously earmarked funds to ensure the money is spent on critical infrastructure needs instead of politicians’ pet projects. Her efforts allowed the Missouri Department of Transportation to direct $72.6 million of previously unspent funds across Missouri to support local needs. These funds were originally earmarked by Congress for use 10 or more years ago, but because they were duplicates, or the project was scrapped, among other reasons—the funds were never used.
