Today’s award will fund relocating and upgrading the city’s sole sewer lift station, which provides service to residences, nursing homes, local schools, and businesses in Clinton, Kentucky. This federal grant is made possible through a Delta Regional Authority (DRA) assistance program, funded by annual appropriations and the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). Senator McConnell led the IIJA to Senate passage two years ago, and the President signed the bill into law. The IIJA gives Kentucky billions of federal dollars over five years to improve the Commonwealth’s roads, bridges, railroads, riverports, airports, broadband, and more. Senator McConnell, a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, contacted the DRA to support the City of Clinton’s competitive federal application and advocated for DRA funding in the FY2023 federal government appropriations bill and the bipartisan Infrastructure Law. “For years, communities across my home state have dealt with aging water infrastructure, which can complicate life for thousands of Kentuckians and disrupt the many schools and businesses that rely on these structures.
