As a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator McConnell advocated on behalf of Fort Campbell to secure federal resources in the Fiscal Year 2023 government funding bill. The Senator secured $135 million in federal funding to renovate near 50-year-old barracks. “As our nation’s premier fighting force, the 101st deserves the best and finest facilities we can provide. I am proud to say that these new and improved barracks meet that mark. As a senior member on the Senate Appropriations Committee, I was proud to secure $135 million in funding for this project, helping accomplish in one year what was scheduled to take almost a decade to finish,” said Senator McConnell. “Investments like these increase the lethality of our force and help make progress in reversing decades of decline in our defense.
