U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker today announced the awarding of a combined $1,703,901.00 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to fund the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program, which helps families enrolled in federally assisted housing programs increase their income and build savings. The Family Self Sufficiency program provides families receiving federal housing assistance a key pathway to success, said Sen. Menendez. By linking families to critical job-training, child care, and educational services, the FSS program empowers families to develop the skills and build the systems needed to achieve and maintain success. Helping New Jersey families achieve financial independence through proven federal programs like this takes an important step towards strengthening the core of New Jerseys communities, said Sen. Booker. This federal investment will help lift up some of our most at risk communities by providing New Jersey families the tools they need to succeed.
