Moran Calls for Action as Migrants with Ties to ISIS, CCP Cross Southern Border 2023-09-22 2023 2023-09 Republican Senate KS Jerry Moran M000934 www.moran.senate.gov moran https://www.moran.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/news-releases scraper WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) spoke on the Senate Floor this week to call on the Biden Administration and the Senate to take action to increase security at the southern border and pass the Secure the Border Act as thousands of migrants cross the border a day, including migrants with ties to ISIS and the Chinese Community Party. This week, Sen. Moran co-sponsored the Secure the Border Act of 2023. “We have a gaping hole in our national security that stretches from California to Texas, and our adversaries are already using that to their advantage,” said Sen. Moran. “I visited the border earlier this year and witnessed Chinese nationals being apprehended by border agents.” “President Biden must act to ensure a stricter enforcement of our immigration laws, reinstate the construction of a wall or fencing in areas that are largely unprotected, and the administration must send a message loud and clear that our border is closed to unlawful entrants,” continued Sen. Moran. “Securing our southern border isn’t a Republican or Democrat issue. It isn’t a Texas or an Arizona issue. It’s a national security issue.” The Secure the Border Act would reinstate reforms to the broken asylum system, expedite immigrant processing, protect unaccompanied alien children, and eliminate economic incentives for illegal immigration by requiring proof of identity and work eligibility for all who work in the United States.
