The investments are part of nearly $25 million in federal resources awarded to eligible providers across the country to strengthen small rural hospitals and help maintain access to care for patients in rural areas. Sen. Moran helped establish the program in the FY2026 LHHS appropriations legislation, which was signed into law this year. “Local hospitals are critical to the health and success of rural communities in Kansas and across the country,” said Sen. Moran. “During last year’s appropriations process, I helped establish the Rural Hospital Provider Assistance Program to help make certain that rural hospitals in Kansas receive the stability and certainty they need to continue delivering quality care to Kansans in their communities.
