https://www.paul.senate.gov/news-dr-rand-paul-applauds-president-trumps-executive-action-regulations/ Dr. Rand Paul Applauds President Trump’s Executive Action on Regulations 2017-01-30 2017 2017-01 Republican Senate KY Rand Paul P000603 www.paul.senate.gov paul https://www.paul.senate.gov/news/ scraper WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Rand Paul applauded President Trump’s Executive Order requiring federal agencies to eliminate two existing regulations for each new one they introduce. The Order would also establish a regulatory budget that offsets new costs with the savings gained from repealing two current regulations. “Today’s action is a refreshing and long-overdue change from the big government status quo in Washington,” said Dr. Paul. “Overzealous regulators have crushed Kentucky’s industries and job creators under their decrees, and this is a promising start to unshackling Kentuckians from unnecessary interference. “I also believe Congressman Mick Mulvaney is exactly the person the country needs to helm this effort as OMB Director, and I urge his swift approval by the Senate,” Dr. Paul added. Since his election to Congress, Dr. Paul has led the way to restore the American people’s voice in the regulatory process. Earlier this month, Dr. Paul reintroduced the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act to rein in unelected federal bureaucrats by requiring that Congress affirmatively approve every new “major rule” proposed by the Executive Branch before it can be enforced on the American people. A “major rule” is defined as any federal rule or regulation that may result in: 1.) an annual economic impact of $100 million or more; 2.) a major increase in costs or prices for American consumers; or 3.) significant adverse effects on the economy. You can read S. 21, the REINS Act, HERE. ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-08T21:17:04Z
