Peters P000595 www.peters.senate.gov garypeters https://www.peters.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases scraper WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senators Gary Peters (MI) and Debbie Stabenow (MI) announced $860,000 in federal grants for Michigan communities to improve roadway safety by developing comprehensive safety action plans. The funding is being awarded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All grant program, which funds local and regional road safety projects that will help prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries. Funding for this program is made possible through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that Peters and Stabenow helped enact into law. The communities listed below are receiving funding to develop comprehensive safety action plans: Chikaming Township - $120,000 Jackson County - $500,000 Macatawa Area Coordinating Council - $240,000 “Michigan drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists deserve to know that our streets and roadways are as safe as possible,” said Senator Peters. “These important investments will help communities across our state identify roadway safety concerns and take steps necessary to prevent future injuries and deaths.” “This investment will give our local communities the tools they need to keep Michigan cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers safe. Roadway deaths are all too common, and this is a great first step to improving some of the most dangerous streets in our state,” said Senator Stabenow. More information about the Safe Streets and Roads for All program can be found here. ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-08T00:49:26Z
