The Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act provides new, full year funding for the federal agencies and programs covered by the bill, including funding for local projects to support first responders, improve emergency response efforts, and upgrade community institutions. Peters helped craft and advance this bipartisan bill out of the Appropriations Committee. “I was proud to fight for these investments, which will help strengthen public safety and improve accessibility for community members visiting the Caro Area District Library,” said Senator Peters, a member of the Appropriations Committee. “I’ll keep working in a bipartisan way to support local projects that support Michiganders and strengthen our communities.” The bill includes resources secured by Peters for high-impact, local public projects in the Bay Region, including: Improving Public Safety in Bad Axe: The bill includes $850,000 to support the construction of a new public safety building for the City of Bad Axe. The project would help ensure that first responders have the resources they need to efficiently and effectively respond to emergencies.
