Peters P000595 www.peters.senate.gov garypeters https://www.peters.senate.gov/newsroom/press-releases scraper WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senators Gary Peters (MI) and Debbie Stabenow (MI) today announced that the City of Charlotte will receive $1,170,091 in federal funding to hire three additional firefighters and help the Charlotte Fire Department safely respond to emergencies. This federal grant comes from the Department of Homeland Security’s Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program. “It is critically important that our communities have emergency responders who are prepared to protect Michiganders and their property,” said Senator Peters. “This grant will provide the City of Charlotte with federal resources to help maintain and hire more staff to ensure they can do their jobs safely and effectively.” “Our firefighters put their lives on the line to protect our families, homes, and communities,” said Senator Stabenow. “These new resources will help the City of Charlotte make sure there is always someone there to answer the call in an emergency.” “We are incredibly grateful to receive the SAFER grant award from FEMA. This grant will provide us with additional personnel to be able to respond to emergency calls in the City of Charlotte and the surrounding townships that we serve,” said Captain Dan Daly of the Charlotte Fire Department. “We would like to thank Senator Peters and Senator Stabenow for being instrumental in providing grant opportunities to rural fire departments in the state of Michigan.” Eligible fire departments and Emergency Medical Services organizations in Michigan and across the country can apply for Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program grants. More information on the grant program can be found here. ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-08T00:37:48Z
