It is crucial that our domestic industrial base have the capacity to quickly ramp up production in times of crisis, so that we are not overly dependent on foreign products.The legislation now heads to the president's desk to be signed into law. In wartime or times of crisis in our nation, it's important that the Department of Defense has a clear understanding of defense industrial base manufacturers' capacity to produce equipment for our military, said Portman. There are many large and small businesses in my home state of Ohio that possess the capability and capacity to meet DoD equipment requirements during times of national emergenciesit is important for these businesses and DoD to know what the requirements are and which companies can fulfill them.
