Dean Meyer, and City of Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz, along with other public officials attempting to mitigate the flood damage to the community. "As I saw firsthand today, flooding in the Findlay and Ottawa region continues to plague local residents and businesses. This is a threat to Northwest Ohio's safety and economy that only seems to be intensifying. The local community and the Federal government must work together to protect against future flooding. I will continue to urge the Army Corps of Engineers to provide the necessary funding to expedite its flood mitigation efforts,” said Portman. In October, Portman and Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), along with Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green), sent a letter to Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works Jo-Ellen Darcy urging the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to include funding for the Blanchard River Flood Risk Management Project (BRFRMP) for fiscal years 2014 and 2015. In July of this year, USACE reprogrammed funding for the project for fiscal year 2013, which assisted with the Chief’s Report, and more importantly ensured that the BRFRMP would be eligible for funding in fiscal year 2014. | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
