Today, U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) voted for the Highway Conference Report, which is now headed to the President for signature. The highway bill includes Portmans Federal Permitting Improvement Act of 2015, bipartisan legislation designed to streamline and improve the federal permitting process. Im pleased to support this bipartisan bill to help modernize the highways and bridges that so many of us in Ohio rely on, Portman stated. States and local governments need certainty, flexibility and stability to complete high priority road and bridge projects, and this bill is a step in the right direction. I am also pleased that the highway bill will benefit important Ohio infrastructure projects like the Brent Spence Bridge in my hometown of Cincinnati. This is something I have been working on for years and will continue to work to ensure these needed upgrades are made. The bill also includes my bipartisan legislation to boost job-creation in Ohio by improving the federal permitting process. Its supported by business and labor alike because its good for the economy and good for jobs.
