Ricketts highlighted successes at the State of Nebraska Department of Banking and discouraged overreliance on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). “As Governor of Nebraska, I had a Department of Banking, and if any of our consumers in Nebraska came and approached us with a problem, no matter how big the bank was, we would investigate to make sure that that consumer got the resolution they needed from whatever problem they had,” Ricketts said. “Take the example of crypto kiosk ATM scams. The state of Nebraska and twenty-eight other states have passed laws to protect consumers on this and combat them. In Nebraska, from September 2025 to June 2026, the Nebraska Department of Banking returned $325,000 back to consumers in our state stemming from crypto ATM fraud and scams. It wasn’t the CFPB that did that — it was the State of Nebraska Department of Banking.
