In 2023, Senator Rosen helped secure more than half a million dollars in federal funding to finish building the cemetery. “It’s a huge honor to represent the hundreds of thousands of veterans who call Nevada home, which is why I’ve long fought to ensure that veterans in every corner of our state receive the benefits and recognition they’ve earned,” said Senator Rosen. “The completion of the Elko National Veterans Cemetery represents our strong commitment to rural veterans and their families, who will no longer have to travel hours for a national burial. I was immensely proud to help secure the funding to complete this project after years of pushing in Washington, and I’m glad to see it cross the finish line.” Senator Rosen has been a champion for Nevada veterans and their families. In a 2023 government funding package, Senator Rosen secured $553,000 for continued work on the Elko National Cemetery. She successfully pushed for the authorization of a VA Medical Center in Reno, which will serve veterans across Northern Nevada.
