Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) and Chairman of the SASC Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, today issued the following statement on the committee’s passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2020: “One of the primary responsibilities of the federal government is to provide for the defense of our nation,” said Rounds. “I’m pleased the Senate Armed Services Committee once again came together to advance this important legislation that provides our troops with the tools they need to keep us safe. This year’s NDAA continues the process of rebuilding our military, restoring our combat advantage and building a more efficient, effective force. We also passed provisions to support our all-volunteer force and their families, including measures to address military housing and sexual misconduct. It now heads to the full Senate for consideration.” Rounds on cyber provisions in NDAA: “As Chairman of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, I am pleased we continued our support for a robust cyber mission force in support of the National Defense Strategy with its focus on the rising threats of Russia and China. On a more technical level, I’m glad we were able to focus on the critical issue of our defense industrial base with measures to improve the cybersecurity of defense contractors at all levels. These measures will help us further defend our country and our armed forces from crippling cyber-attacks.” SOME FY 2020 NDAA HIGLIGHTS: Provides $750 billion national defense funding for FY 2020. 5 percent increase above FY 2019. 3.1 percent pay raise for our troops, the largest increase in a decade. $2.6 billion in disaster recovery. ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-06-27T23:25:46Z
