That’s why programs like these are so critical for families living in rural areas.” The new federal funding is part of the Health Resources and Service Administration’s Teaching Health Center Planning and Development Program (THCPD), and will support the establishment of a teaching health center primary care residency program at the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center. The new residency program will help train residents at community-based sites and help to address physician workforce shortages in rural and underserved communities.
