Schumer today announced that L3Harris Technologies, in Rochester, New York, has been selected by the U.S. Army to manufacture Falcon IV AN/PRC-163 two-channel handheld radios, along with related equipment and services. This is the third order of radios that L3Harris will produce under the Army's multi-year $3.9 billion Indefinite-Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Leader Radio contract. As a winner of the Army's Leader Radio contract, L3Harris is one of two vendors that the Army selected to provide an anticipated total of 100,000 two-channel Leader radios under the IDIQ contract. The company has provided the Army with next-generation handheld and manpack radios and two-channel AN/PRC-158 manpack radios so far under its previous two IDIQ contracts. This well-earned contract will support jobs at L3Harris, in addition to boosting the economic recovery of the entire Rochester-Finger Lakes economy. L3Harris has proven time and time again that it can make superior radios for the U.S. military and our allies around the world, saidSenator Schumer. I was proud to work hard on behalf of this world-class producer of radios, and will always fight for investments that both protect our troops and provide a shot in the arm to the Rochester-Finger Lakes economy. This announcement comes after Senator Schumer's successful multi-year push on behalf of L3Harris, urging a full and fair Army procurement process for the Leader Radio to ensure that companies like L3Harris would have an even playing field to compete.
