The NDAA specifically bars the transfer of terrorists from the detention facilities at Guantanamo Bay to domestic soil; however, the White House has threatened to close the facility via Executive Order. The President emphasized today that he will still try to close Guantanamo. "Today the President was forced to acknowledge that the majority of the American people and Congress oppose transferring these dangerous terrorists from Guantanamo Bay to domestic soil. However, the President's statement today shows that he is more than happy to ignore that opposition, and continue down a dangerous path towards closing Guantanamo and putting a target on American communities. I will continue to utilize every tool in my toolbox to stop this from happening, preventing the President from making a momentous mistake and ensuring he does not ignore the American people."
