The legislation includes the Senator’s School Choice Now Act, as well as a Scott provision doubling the charitable tax deduction to encourage giving through the end of 2020. “Since the pandemic began, I have worked to find solutions on the health care, jobs, and education fronts,” Scott said. “The legislation I voted for today would accomplish all three of those goals, including a historic improvement to our nation’s educational systems through the School Choice Now Act. It also includes a critical provision to double the charitable tax deduction, which will help non-profits and community groups continue the amazing work they do helping those in need. Unfortunately, as they have multiple times this year, Senate Democrats have stymied critical legislation – be it the initial CARES Act, police reform or a host of other important issues – putting their political dreams ahead of the American people.
