While stop-gap funding bills can create inefficiencies within government that sow uncertainty in the economy, this step represents a reasonable path forward that will allow time for Republicans and Democrats to reach an agreement on a realistic appropriations package that works for the American people. “Americans want us to work together to solve problems and make their lives better. When we return to Congress in September, I remain committed to working in good faith alongside my colleagues to deliver spending packages that invest in our states and communities and provide the long-term certainty they need.” ### 1 2026-08-09T05:47:57Z 2026-08-09T05:49:40Z
