These grants include $239,250 to Dover, $170,547 to Rochester and $225,000 to Portsmouth, and will provide funding for each city to hire service coordinators to assess public housing residents' needs, access job training and assist with job placement. Public housing supports some of the most vulnerable Granite Staters, including low income families, seniors and disabled residents, and this funding for Service Coordinators will help residents become self-sufficient and improve their quality of life, said Shaheen. These resources will be put to good use in our Seacoast communities, and I will continue to advocate for assistance to the most vulnerable in our society. By implementing resident empowerment activities and supportive services at these three public housing sites across New Hampshire, these grants will help expand economic opportunity and give more Granite Staters the tools they need to move away from public assistance, said Hassan. I am pleased that Dover, Rochester, and Portsmouth will get significant federal grant funding for families to receive supportive services that can help them earn more and achieve economic independence, said Shea-Porter.
