The Senators are asking the Agency to return the military service question on the Universal Residential Loan Application to the top of the form so all who qualify can explore the VA home loan benefits available to them. The Universal Residential Loan Application's military service question must be accessible so servicemembers and veterans can get the benefits they've earned and achieve the dream of homeownership, said Sinema. Previously, a military service question asking servicemembers and veterans to self-identify on the Universal Residential Loan Application was placed on the first page. This year the Federal Housing Finance Agency announced a change, and moved the question to the bottom of the form after borrowers sign. The Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals indicates that veterans and servicemembers are significantly less likely to consider VA loans if they do not have the opportunity to self-identify during the loan process. The Senators are urging the Agency to stop this change, so all veterans have the opportunity to self-identify and explore VA home loan benefits available to them.
