More than 12 million Americans, or 8.5 percent of our workforce, are employed by manufacturers. And every $1 in manufacturing spending adds nearly $2 to our economy. This is another reason why enacting real, pro-growth tax reform is so important. A new survey out this week from the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) underscores the impact tax reform will have on jobs, wages, and economic growth: “Optimism has risen to unprecedented heights, driven by [manufacturers’] belief that the progress the White House and Congress have made on enacting bold, comprehensive tax reform shows that leaders in Washington are finally embracing policies to help manufacturers in the United States successfully compete in the global marketplace.” The survey found that 94.6 percent of manufacturers have a positive economic outlook, and more than 75 percent support the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act due to the benefits to American competitiveness. Moreover, nearly half of manufacturers say they will give their employees a raise if tax reform is enacted. Higher wages, estimated to rise upwards of $4,000 for average American households, means a higher standard of living for you and your family.
