By this point, you are probably a little worn out by the tax reform debate. The special interests clawing to keep this or that provision. The far left spewing doomsday rhetoric. The stories about how the bill is dead one day and back on track the next. We get it—it can be exhausting. But if there’s one thing you remember entering the home stretch of the debate it’s this: Typical American households will receive an $1,182 tax cut. By lowering rates, nearly doubling the standard deduction, and increasing the Child Tax Credit, you get to keep more of your hard-earned paycheck. That means more money in your pocket to save and invest in your future. For many families just struggling to get by, that extra $1,182 will go a long way. In fact, more than half of Americans say that a $500 surprise would put them in debt. From the beginning, the whole purpose of our plan has been to cut taxes for hardworking Americans who have been squeezed under the current system. And that’s why the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will provide much-needed relief to people living paycheck-to-paycheck who need it the most.   To learn more, visit speaker.gov. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
