This is non-wilderness federal land in Alaska that is known to be rich in energyspecifically oil. What does this mean for the American people? Revenue Oil drilling on this piece of federal land means more money for the federal treasury, thanks to the royalty payments the government would receive based off the barrels of oil drilled and sold. How much? Almost $1 billion in 10 years and it wont stop there. Thats the main reason its part of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. This money helps pay for the tax cut the hardworking American people need, deserve, and will receive come February. Jobs The benefits of energy development extend far beyond raising revenue. Energy development creates good-paying jobs. Where? In Alaska, of course, where ANWR is located, but also along the entire energy supply chain. For example, pipes and equipment must be built. Truckers must be hired to drive equipment. That means good jobs for Americans across the country. This also means a major economic boost for our economy. Security Energy development also enhances our nations energy security. The more leverage we have with our energy assets, the stronger seat we have at the international table. More specifically, the more oil we develop here at home, the less we have torely on OPEC, Russia, and other energy-rich foreign nations, some of whom are hostile to the United States. Because, no matter what happens on the world stage, it means our nation is developing its own rich natural resources to help American consumers have the most affordable energy possible. There are many, many benefits to the American people in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, including a simpler, fairer tax code, bigger paychecks forhardworkingfamilies, and a more competitive environment for business.
