Tester selected the total of 34 Montana nominees to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy based on their academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, and commitment to serving and leading in the United States military. A nomination from a member of Congress is the first step in students' applications to the four schools. "I'm proud to nominate Montana's best and brightest students to our nation's most prestigious military academies each year, Tester said. These young men and women have earned this honor through their hard work in and out of the classroom, and I'm looking forward to watching them become the next generation of leaders to serve our state and this country. Montana students interested in applying for a military academy nomination in the future can request a nomination from Tester HERE. Senator Jon Tester's Billings-area 2020 military academy nominations: Gentry Lamb - U.S. Merchant Marine Academy & U.S. Air Force Academy. Gentry serves as Vice President of his school's National Honor Society Chapter, a class Senator, and the captain of both the varsity cross country and wrestling teams. He attends Skyview High School. Emma Martinsen - U.S. Naval Academy. Emma is a member of the National Honor Society, varsity debate, and cross country teams. She is also a recipient of the YMCA leadership award. She attends Billings Senior High School. Carson Seiler - U.S. Air Force Academy & U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Carson is a member of both the symphonic and pep bands. He is also the captain of the varsity baseball team and a member of the National Honor Society. He attends Billings West High School. Panagiotis (Pete) Saliaris - U.S. Military Academy & U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Pete is a member of the varsity wrestling, track, and cross country teams. He is also a member of the National Honor Society and founding member of the Billings High Environmental Club. He attends Billings Central Catholic High School. Tyler Vannatta - U.S. Air Force Academy. Tyler is a member of the National Honor Society, Business Professionals of America, and Senior Class President.
